Our clothing is designed with cutting-edge materials to face the most extreme conditions. Whether it's PVC armor or a breathable membrane, each textile has its own requirements.
This guide concerns our technical "breathable" textiles. These garments are made of sophisticated membranes that wick away sweat while blocking rain. Poor maintenance clogs these pores and makes the garment "stifling."
🚿 Washing: Free the membrane
- Frequency: Unlike PVC, these fabrics like to be washed. Sweat, salt, and dust clog the membrane.
- Machine wash: Synthetic program at 30°C. Close all zippers and velcros, and turn the garment inside out.
- Choice of detergent: Use a classic liquid detergent (in small quantity).
- Enemy number 1: Avoid fabric softener. It leaves a greasy film on the fibers that completely cancels breathability and water repellency.
💨 Drying & Reactivation
- Drying: In the open air, on a hanger.
- Pro tip: Once dry, put the garment in the dryer for 10 to 15 minutes (delicate/gentle cycle). Moderate heat helps "straighten" the fibers of the durable water repellent (DWR) treatment and makes water bead again.
- Without a dryer: You can iron the garment (low iron temperature, no steam) by placing a towel between the iron and the fabric.
🧱 Storage
- Method: In a dry and ventilated place.
- Caution: Avoid humid places (car trunks, sports bags) because membranes do not like stagnant moisture, which can peel off the internal sealing tapes.
🩹 Repair
A classic stitch with a needle will create holes that let water through.
- Solution: For small tears, use technical adhesive patches (like Tenacious Tape).
- For large holes: Use specific heat-sealable tapes for membranes to ensure moisture does not seep through the repair.
